Blogging is 157% the weirdest thing I’ve ever do

Blogging is 157% the weirdest thing I’ve ever done. Last week I bought a ”high quality phone tripod mount” with a remote control so I can take pictures of myself to post here 😂😂 I spent way too much time trying to get this shot so please pretend it’s the best picture of a blogger sitting on a bed that you’ve ever seen. In other news, I finally shared my bedroom on the blog. Check it out to see the room when we bought the house and how it looks now, and find out what few things I have left to do in here. No selfies included, promise.

My toughest design challenge in this house may be this 75 gallon fish tank, so we might as well have fun with it. Graham actually suggested we go with black and I thought it was a great idea! SW Black Magic worked perfectly in here. I image it paired with more plants and some vintage frames eventually. It’s definitely a fun wall to play with! Would you ever paint a wall black in your house?!

You know those anthropology antique mirrors that go on sale for like $800? Yeah - love those things, but they’re not in my budget. Instead I found this cute mirror for $30 on marketplace and added some antique gold rub’n’buff to make a fun substitute. It does the trick for me! My bedroom is one of the most “done” rooms in our house and it’s 100% worth it. I love starting and ending the day in a room I love. If you’ve been putting it off because no one else sees it, consider giving your bedroom a little extra attention and I bet you don’t regret it!

White walls and fancy things...the living room is

White walls and fancy things...the living room is looking better already! My goal for this room is to mix modern and vintage while keeping things minimal and not filling the room with too much stuff. I’m feeling a little nervous about pulling it off, but excited too! Pulling together a look like this will take time and trial and error, and I’m ok with that. Next up is 7’ shelves along this wall. Gotta make room for some plant babies!

On a whim yesterday I came up with a plan to refresh our living room. Originally I just intended to live with the old faded wallpaper until we do the big remodel, but with less than 24 hours of deliberation, I dove in and pulled off all the wallpaper during nap time today. Will’s been gone for the last week and is going to have quite the shock when he walks in tonight, because I haven’t mentioned my new project yet. It looks better already! 🤣

I’m so excited to finally see our room coming to

I’m so excited to finally see our room coming together! I’m a big believer in taking your time and this feels so right to me. Actually this is probably speed decorating for me, we’ve only owned this house for 3 months. We still need to put up trim and moulding in this room, I have a mirror to finish working on and I need to give Will his dresser drawers back 😂 (they’ve been in the garage so I can sand them down). Then I’ll just add a plant and ta-da, it’ll be done! I’ve really been trying to focus on covering the basics in this house. Curtains, rugs, lighting and nice linens (and a plant or 10) is really all you need to make a room feel finished. I’m still adding my Mary Queen of Scots portrait at some point though.
