Can you believe that until a few years ago I thought I didn’t like pie?? Before you mark me down as crazy, let me just explain that I am not very adventurous when it comes to food. I eat what I’ve always eaten and I don’t really have a desire to try many new foods. I guess I just always assumed I didn’t like pie, probably so I could double up on the ice cream instead.
But then a few years ago I finally tried pumpkin pie and my world changed. Now it is my favorite way to welcome the holiday season. Luckily my family feels the same way and we’ve already shared a few pies this year!
While I’m not necessarily adventurous with food, I do love to combine the things I already know I like, like in a pie bar. Did you know that there are plenty of other flavors that compliment pumpkin? So there’s no need to stop at Reddi-Wip® when it comes to toppings (however I wouldn’t recommend skipping that one either!).
You don’t need much to make an awesome pie bar. Here’s your shopping list:
Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies Pumpkin Pie
Cinnamon Graham Crackers
You can get everything you need in one quick trip to Walmart.
The only preparation necessary is to bake the pie (which only takes about an hour) and crush your cinnamon graham crackers.
Cut up your pie, set out your toppings, and let your friends and family members load up their pies to their hearts’ content!
Another idea for celebrating the holiday season is to participate in a “random act of pie-ness.” Show up at a friend’s or neighbor’s with everything you need for an impromptu pie bar.
Let them know they’d been pied while you take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season and take a minute to enjoy the people who mean the most to you. Then, challenge them to do the same and #ShareTheJoyofPie.
If you’re surprising your friends or just want to drop off this sweet treat, put your pie bar ingredients in a jar so they can easily put together their own pie bar. And don’t forget to include this printable so they can #SharetheJoyofPie with their own “random act of pie-ness.”
