The last minute has always served me well. I attributed it to my ability to perform well under pressure. (Unless it was sports related, then I never performed well.)
That was, until I decided to wait until the last minute to order my business cards for the blog conference I’m going to this weekend in Minneapolis.
I’ve had “order business cards” written in my planner at least 20 times in the last 2 months. Every time I’d shrug it off like no big deal. Finally last night, four days before the conference, I decided I’d probably pushed the envelope as far as it was going to go, so I uploaded and ordered my cards.
Aren’t they beautiful? I’m not a designer, so I’m pretty happy with these self designed ones. Some day I’ll pay someone to do something better.
I knew I’d probably be better off paying a little extra for shipping to make sure they get here on time. Business cards are light, right? So surely the extra shipping isn’t much, right?I might want to mention here that I am super cheap. I will generally wait as long as it takes to ensure I get free shipping if at all possible. That $3 or so on top of each purchase just drives me insane!
So I get to the shipping point of the checkout, and 2 day shipping for light little business cards is….wait for it…
$25 effin dollas!
Holy moly! The business cards themselves were only $11!
Needless to say, I am kicking myself for waiting until the last minute.
Do you know how many 5 dollar footlongs I could get for $25? I know you know.
