Quick Chalk Corkboard Project

I’ve had a couple plain gold picture frames laying around I picked up at a garage sale a while back, and I finally decided a couple weeks ago what to do with them.

A cute corkboard backing with chalkboard paint on top is just what these frames needed to give them a little more interest and make them more functional. And they’re quick and easy to make.

Chalkboard Frame Supplies

To get started, all you’ll need is:

– Picture frame
– Cork board
– Chalkboard Frame
– Mod Podge
– Paint brush

I just used Mod Podge to adhere my cork board to the back of my picture frame. I used two layers of cork, because my cork was thin enough that a push pin would have gone all the way through it.

After letting that dry, you just need to add a few layers of chalkboard paint to your corkboard. The directions on the bottle recommends two layers, but I went ahead and did three just to be safe.

Then I put it back in the frame and wrote my boring, generic message on it.

I would like to draw out a calendar on the chalkboard and put it above a desk (if I ever find one I like). Then I can pin notes to the corkboard.  For the long skinny frame, I think a grocery list or menu in the kitchen would be cute.

So if you have any old frames laying around that you don’t know what to do with, here’s another idea for you! Happy Friday and have a good weekend!
