I can’t believe Halloween is less than a month away. I need to get going on Graham’s Halloween costume, but I’m not sure what he should be. Maybe a Nemo??? (By the way are they really coming out with a Finding Dori or is that a scam??) Anyways, I have done one thing to prepare for the upcoming holiday, and that’s make some fun spooky snacks out of OREOs and Fanta Orange soda. These things are straight out of a mad scientist’s lab and you can find everything you need at your local Walmart!
The eyeballs are super easy to make. You need OREOs, white chocolate melts, sugar eyeballs, and red gel frosting.
You just dip the OREOs in the melted chocolate (I used an actual chocolate melting dish I borrowed from my mom, but any old bowl will work!) and then set them out to dry on wax paper. Stick on the eyeball immediately then after they harden up use the red gel frosting to make some veins. Easy peasy!
If you noticed that we started out with a baker’s dozen of OREOs and only ended up with a true dozen of eyes, you can blame it on the baker getting hungry! ;)
Take this snack to the next level by offering a yummy drink with your snacks. Fill “beakers” with Fanta Orange soda to quench your guests’ or trick-or-treaters’ thirst with the “secret ingredients” from your lab. Label them using chalk tape labels.
These snacks didn’t last long in our house and will definitely be a new Halloween tradition for us! I might even dress up as a mad scientist for trick-or-treaters this year…how fun would that be??!!
